I must be doing something right.

Just found out that my Esme order was cancelled by the MFG yesterday. Another local store which I'll call "M" in Deerfield apparently turned me in to the company as a thrift store with an eBay store. Well number 1.. I am NOT a thrift store. My fabulous store is by far a thrift store. I think the amount of Juicy Couture, Lemon, Oilily, and designer jeans going on the floor as consignment should prove we are NOT that kind of store. #2.. I'm not planning on selling NEW items on eBay. I fault the mfg for not asking me first before cancelling.. and #3.. I must be doing something right if my 450 sq feet of retail space that I am using for the NWT items are scaring the other retailers in neighboring cities of my new businesss. Give me a break is all I have to say.

Oh and for everyone that called me asking for Wes & Willy since the local boys store closed.. I've called the rep for the line and emailed her. She wont sell to me either since I am a "resale" store. I told her I had people who wanted it but she hasnt emailed back. Oh well. I can't please everyone. We'll just have to prove them wrong in the future.

Here is my take..

The economy is bad.
Stores are Closing all over the US including in Highland Park.
Resale is good for both the enviornment -- go Green, and for those of us who could use a little bit of quick cash.
New concepts like high end consignment will have to grow on everyone.
My store is going to be awesome--

Look for me to open Mid-October. I take posession of the store Tuesday. Wish me luck.

Martha is one rocking photographer!

I have to share. My friend Martha Abelson is truly one rocking photographer! Martha, who is also a friend of mine, is going to be my "in house" photographer. She's amazing! Martha and I became friends last year through our kids who were in the same class at Ravinia school.

Martha did a photoshoot at the beach today with my daughter and neice and nephew. Ages 6, 7, and 5. The idea was to have their pic's up in the store with other client work of hers to show off her talent! It turned out to be a very cold afternoon... the water was hitting the beach like it was the middle of winter. But the kids didnt know a thing! Martha is amazing. She was down in the sand with them, on the shore getting wet, and everywhere encouraging the three mischief makers to have fun and be natural. She makes your kids feel like they are her friend. My nephew initially ran off and refused to partake but ended up having some great pic's taken. My neice told my sister in law that this was her best day ever! How can you beat that? My daughter felt like she was a rockstar!

Go check out Martha's blog for a few pic's of our great late afternoon at the beach. If you think you want pic's taken call Martha. Besides loving her as a friend she is really a wonderful photographer. I can't say enough!

Barcoding and miscellaneous....

These days you can find me in my basement starting the barcoding process. All of the consignment clothing has been stored in my basement and labeled with each consignor's name. I've gone through 3 clients and have over 500 items barcoded this week. Only about 35+ more bags of clothes. I'm thrilled to have so many great items and new clients. Thanks to everyone who is calling and referring friends to me.

I need infant girl clothes. So if you know anyone with infant girl clothes hidden away have them call me!

Want a job? I need to hire someone from 3-5pm T -Friday. If you know anyone have them call me. I'd love a High School or college girl.

Have a great weekend. Happy New Years to my good friends.
